Mallika to shake hard with Hard Kaur
Mallika Sherawat, the reigning Diva and Hard Kaur, the Bhangra-pop singer from British-Indian origin, have come together for a song. The track is called 'Main Talli Ho Gayi' and the film that has made it possible it Ugly Aur Pagli.
A mad comedy in the offering, Ugly Aur Pagli is Pritish Nandy production and comes in the wake of the success of Pyaar Ke Side Effects. A situation in the film requires Mallika Sherawat to get drunk on a dance floor with Ranvir Shorey, her lead in the film, giving her company. As she dances to Anu Malik's beats of 'Main Talli Ho Gayi', Hardkaur too joins in the fun and sings in her characteristic style.

Well, she not just does the job from behind the scenes but also comes in front of the camera to do a jig on the dance floor. A new age club song, the song has Hard Kaur coming up with her English-Punjabi rendition, which sets the platform for a fun outing. This is not all as Mika Singh joins soon along with Anmol Malik, Anu's daughter, and together they have total 'dhamaal' in the offering.
The song marks Hardkaur's yet another stint in a video for the film after 'Move Your Body' from Johnny Gaddaar last year. However, the difference here is that while the track from Johnny Gaddaar was only for the promotional purpose, 'Main Talli Ho Gayi' features in it's entirety in the film.
With Mallika and Hard Kaur sharing a common platform, the stage would catch fire!
Anil Kapoor realises his London Dreams
It's a nice, airy apartment with a double bedroom, living room, fully fitted kitchen and bathroom with gas central heating. London real estate is extremely expensive and Anil has spent a bomb on it. It has cost him around 3 million pounds (above 20 crore) approximately."
It is believed that the actor wants to put the apartment on rent for sometime so that it can pay for itself.
The source adds, "Sunita is also looking to buy property in Mumbai. She has ambitious plans of setting up one of the finest film studios in Mumbai, is equipped with all the latest in pre and post-production. It's all hush-hush as she has been approaching estate agents quietly, including the London flat. If there is an announcement it will create tax problems for them.
Sunita's sister-in-law Mona Kapoor (producer Boney kapoor's wife and Anil's elder brother) has one of the best studios in Mumbai, the Future Studios in Goregaon and today Sunita also wants one as it's very profitable. Anil has his own production house so he can also shoot all his films there."Anil Kapoor says, "This is the biggest joke I have heard. I wish I could afford to buy a flat in London. There must be some confusion. You must have got me confused with Anil Ambani."

New Entry to Stardom
Though Kajal Agarwal’s first film is Bharathi Raja’s Bommalattam, her second film Pazhani with Bharath had hit the screens before and she is a known name in the industry now. Currently she is being paired with Vinay in Charan’s Modhi Vilayadu where her role is touted to be very important. During the shooting of a stunt sequence in the film, a sharp

knife had hit her head which led the actress to be rushed to the hospital where she had to be sutured for her head injury.
Meanwhile it is her birthday tomorrow and there was a party scheduled to celebrate the same today at the A V M studios. Initially the crew of the film was skeptical about her presence at the party. But the actress, not wanting to disappoint her friends and well wishers made a brief presence and cut the cake. Needless to say the small gathering was touched by the act of this young lady who had come there despite her illness. Wishing Kajal Agarwal a very Happy Birthday and a speedy recovery.

Rajini: from boss to beggar
Rajini suggests to his friend that they go to the temple and give thanks. His friend is astonished and says, they will be mobbed. Rajini disguises himself as a 70 year old beggar and wanders through the temple, and goes unrecognised. But a Gujarati lady mistakes him for a beggar and hands him ten rupees. Rajini accepts it gracefully. Later, the lady thinks her eyes are playing tricks on her: the old beggar leaves a 100 rupee note on the altar and another one in the temple hundi. She realises her folly as she sees the beggar get into a posh car. She runs to the car and asks forgiveness, and for the ten rupees back so that she can donate it to the temple. But Rajini says he’ll keep the ten because, “every time God finds a way to remind me that I am nothing but a mere beggar at his altar.”
Bus number 10 A
He was born in Bangalore at the Vani Villas hospital to Ranoji and Rambai Gaekwad on 12 Dec 1950 at 9.45 pm. The first bus that Rajini was a conductor of was the 10 A Bus that ran from Majestic circle to Srinagar.
Rajini sleeps on Mount Road pavement
Borrowing a little money from his brother, he joins an acting school in Madras. On his first night in the city he has no place to sleep, and spends the night on the pavement outside the LIC building on Mount Road. Later, his classmates take pity on him and allow him to share their little accommodation in Aminjikarai: Arun Lodge, Room 28.
There were many days Rajini and his classmates starved because they had no money. One day they stood outside a fancy hotel on Mount Road and wondered if they would ever get to eat there. Many decades later, Rajini drove one of his classmates to the hotel, and asked him if he remembered the
hotel. “Do you own it now?” asked the classmate. Rajini smiled and said: “I own the whole building now.”
How he acquired his name
He gets an audition call from K. Balachander. The director sees promise in the struggling actor at once and offers him not one but three roles. Rajini is overjoyed. In one of the movies –Mundru Muduchu,- he learns that he will be acting with the legendary Kamal Haasan and Sri Devi. But he does not know Tamil. “We will dub your voice,” says KB, but my advise to you is to learn Tamil as quickly as you can. Learn Tamil and I will take you places.” Later, KB asks Rajini what screen name he’d like to use. “Sivaji Gaekwad, Sir” replies Rajini. “Oh no, that will not do, said KB, and asked him if he had seen his play, Major Chandrakanth.
“Of course, sir”.
“There are two characters in the play. One is Sreekanth and the other is Rajinikanth…Since I have already named someone else Sreekanth, I would like to call you Rajinikanth.”
“I take it as an honour, sir.”
His first dialogue
Rajini’s first dialogue is for KB’s Mundru Muduchu: he has to go towards Kamal Haasan and ask, “Is this Bhairavi’s house? I am Bhairavi’s husband.”
Called Superstar for the first time
Kalai Puli Dhanu released Bhairavi in a big way. Hoardings and ads all over the place, with the legend on the poster written broadly: ‘Watch Superstar Rajinkanth in Bhairavi’. Rajini was embarrassed to be called a superstar - this being the first time he has been described that way. He thinks only MGR and Sivaji can be called superstars. He phones Dhanu and says, Sir, why did you call me that?
Dhanu says: Because you are.
The kadavule kadavule scene
Kushbhoo: “Do you remember the famous ‘kadavule, kadavule scene? If you notice carefully, every time he said that I was grinning. I could not control my laughter. Even after the shots were canned, he would tease me with kadavule, kadavule. That was quite embarrassing.”
Rajinikanth
Aishwarya Rajinikanth’s crush on Silambarasan
He was her schoolmate. But it came to nothing. Later, she meets Dhanush at a preview show and is drawn to him.
Kamal talks Rajini out of it
At one point Rajini decides to renounce everything, take sanyas. He informs his wife, Lata, who is stunned. He goes to KB and declares he wants to give up acting. Later that day Kamal meets him and talks him out of it, saying he could remain an actor and balance spiritual quest with family and profession. Rajini listens to him.

Priyanka, Harman at loggerheads
While Love Story 2050 would see the two coming together on 4th July, a couple of their independent films may actually be clashing at the box office, hence turning into an embarrassing situation for the couple. To top it all, none of the two films are pushovers and have big names associated with them.
We are talking about Fashion and Victory - both of which have been confirmed for a 14th November release. Priyanka Chopra plays the central protagonist in Fashion while Harman is the lead in Victory. While the release plans for Fashion were declared quite some time back, it is Victory which has very recently joined the fray.
Fashion is a high profile project that has 3 times National Award winner Madhur Bhandarkar at its helm. On the other hand Victory is directed by first time director Ajit Pal. Incidentally; both the films explore different genres. While Madhur Bhandarkar takes his audience into the underbelly of the Fashion industry in Fashion, Victory talks about the journey of a small town boy who grows on to be an international cricketer.

Kamal - A legend
Kamal Haasan
has seen and will ever see. As his glowing 50 year celluloid life is poised to hit a crescendo, ready to shine at its brightest, we thought about taking all Kamal fans back in time- from the days of the toddler in Kalathur Kannamma, through the young lad learning the nuances of bharathanatyam, the assistant dance director, the beginner, the star, the master, the director, the producer, the visionary- all the way to Universal Star. Retracing the steps that took the boy from Paramakudi to the pinnacles of celluloid perfection; Kamal-the making of a legend.
Kamal Haasan
Some say, ‘legends are born’. Others beg to differ, they say ‘legends are made’. When each person is born they are nothing but a mound of earth waiting to be molded, a stone waiting to be cut to diamond, a sapling waiting to be tended. Destiny chooses few among us to mold, cut and tend to greatness. Kamal Haasan was one such chosen by the hands of time to be shaped to hold gre
Dasavatharam, just for the sheer effort that has gone into its making will be not just a masterpiece but a masterpiece among the great masterpieces of all times and that is saying something. All people who have known Kamal’s work ethic will believe in the above statement and there is no greater testimony to a man’s greatness than the faith of the people in him.
All of us have a calling, a belief that there is purpose for our existence. Most of us keep looking for it almost all our lives, some of us are lucky enough to find it at all. Kamal identified his calling very early in life. Not many would give up regular schooling to learn dance, and more importantly, art was something he loved. Dance and music were his first passions and film was just a natural progression as the biggest stage to exhibit one’s art, as an assistant dance director. But talent as precious as Kamal’s cannot be confined for long behind the scenes, up front is where he belonged and that is where destiny took him. Of course, we are not giving destiny all the credit for creating Dr. Kamal Haasan. The hero of this tremendous success story is Kamal himself who so gloriously lived the dream that began with Kalathur Kannamma.
Someone said, ‘destiny is a matter of choice, not of chance’. In a
We have talked about his genius, his seemingly vast and immense talent, but what made Kamal Haasan the Living Legend is not his genius or talent. Yes, they played significant roles but the hero of the Kamal Haasan story is commitment and hard work, just as it is with all legends that are and have come to pass. What makes a man who has 150 movies, 3 national and a bag full of Filmfare awards, a honorary doctorate, the nations fourth highest civilian award and the title of Living Legend, sit still for six hours just to get that perfect look for a character that will appear for just minutes on the screen? What drives him to push the frontiers every time he faces the camera? We might call it the ‘pursuit of perfection’ and on principle man is not perfectible, only improvable and Kamal believes in this. That is why he is like a flowing river that never rests to enjoy the beautiful scenery that it creates by being there. The scene is for us to behold, the rivers just flows along quietly, to its next bank. Kamal creates pieces of cinematic elegance and beauty for us to marvel, he moves along to his next and the
Kamal Haasan
next, rising higher, pushing harder and getting better. That is why even before we have seen Dasavatharam we hear about Marmayogi and that is also why we know that Marudhanayagam will not forever remain an unaccomplished dream. That is why seven of his movies have represented India at the Oscars. Not that we care for an Oscar to recognize the genius of our Universal Star. Just that there are some people out there who are not convinced without the numbers. This is proof that Kamal Haasan is one of Indian cinema’s most valuable assets.
Dasavatharam is almost here and it might be the most appropriate time to revel in the genius of Kamal. But this is not just about Dasavatharam or any one movie. Dasavatharam or not, all that has been said above about Dr. Kamal Haasan holds true. It is not about 10 roles or one big movie, it is about the dedication of one man to what he does, the pursuit of excellence that made him the legend.

Pair for a new song
As Haal-e-Dil gears up for release later this month, Ajay and wifey dearest Kajol even went ahead and shot a special song for the film. The song called 'Oye Hoye' seems like a typical Punjabi number and has Kajol dressed in a beautiful maroon salwar kameez. The song, which was shot at the Filmistan studios in Mumbai, also features the film's lead pair Nakul Mehta and Amita Pathak dancing along with Ajay and Kajol. Hope Ajay and Kajol's magic rubs off to this film.

MANJIL fracture!?!
Kanthaswamy, the Vikram- Shriya starrer is progressing and should be ready for release before this year end. This film being directed by Susi Ganesan came in for a stop when its villain actor Mansoor Ali Khan was involved in a small accident at the shooting spot.
The crew was shooting at Mahabalipuram beach when Mansoor was riding on a horse having a look at the foreigners who were sun bathing. Unexpectedly Mansoor fell down and had fractured his right hand. He was rushed to the nearby hospital where he was treated. The doctors have advised him rest and he would be resuming shooting after a while.
Mysskin’s special class for Sniktha
After having shot to limelight for her mind-boggling dance performance in Kathazha Kannale Kuththathe… in Anjathe, Sniktha is all set to don the female lead role in the Mysskin starrer Nandalala. Sources close to the Nandalala team say that Sniktha is being trained in Mysskin’s office along with a child artiste Ashwath Ram. According to the director,
Priyamani
the training sessions are to help the actress know the nuances of acting. Incidentally, Nandalala will also be Mysskin’s maiden acting venture. Meanwhile, the actress is also being taught to speak Tamil fluently.
Saif didn't tell about his kids to Rozza
Rozza said it was shocking when she came to know about his divorce and kids. She later developed a very good chemistry with Saif's children Sara and Ibrahim. Rozza says she still doesn't know the reason for their breakup but admits to have moved on in life after that. She admits missing the kids and at times sends SMSs to Sara.
Rozza however doesn't blame Kareena for her breakup and says she and Saif had parted ways long before Saif met Kareena. After doing an item number in Shaurya, Rozza will be seen in a lead role in Ek Second Jo Zindagi Badal De. Hope Saif has got rid of his 'keeping things secret' habit and not keeping Kareena in the dark about anything.

King Khan rules the world
While Shahrukh Khan's much talked about game show Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass Se Tez Hai? opened to quite a mixed response in
According to Akash Sharma of Bulldog Entertainment, license owner of the show, the tremendous response in the form of fan-mail from NRI's has made them take the decision to telecast the show in some foreign countries.
The show would first be launched in
Shruthi is in the game
Kamal Hassan's daughter Shruti Hassan, who was in the news recently for her musical concerts, has signed on Shree Ashtavinayak CineVision Ltd's forthcoming film titled Luck directed by Soham Shah as her debut film!!
The role suited Shruti Hassan perfectly as her character is involved in a lot of action and Shruti's lean and athletic look fits the bill completely.
Along with Shruti Luck will also star Sanjay Dutt, Imraan Khan, Mithun Chakraborthy, Danny Denzongpa, Ravi Kisshen and Rati Agnihotri.
The shooting of the film will commence from 8th July in South Africa. The music has been given by Salim Suleiman.
The Indian Oscars take off in style: IIFA roll of honor
It has been the biggest event on the Bollywood calendar for the past few years and everyone’s been noticing it. No, we are not talking about the Filmfare Awards, its time for the IIFAs once again- the Indian answer to the Oscars. The great Bollywood (some hate that term, especially Fardeen Khan) idea of taking Indian cinema to the world by hosting a grand awards function at some of the world’s most happening cities. This time the caravan is in Bangkok where the greater part of the Hindi film industry has landed up for the year’s biggest celebration.
This year is special because none other than the Big B is the event ambassador. Then, as always there is a sneak peek at the biggest offerings that Bollywood will have over the next few months, IIFA is always bountiful. The glittering opening ceremony, live performances by Kareena Kapoor, Harman Baweja, the music release of Mission Istanbul and of course the star studded Sarkar Raj premiere which got a green carpet (instead of the usual red) because of the proximity to world environment day (June 5).
But, if the organizers were hoping to have an impact on global warming by using the green carpet, then they were completely off the mark. The stars just turned on the heat in Bangkok, especially the star couples Abhishek-Aishwarya and the latest sensation Ranbir-Deepika. However, there has been no talk about Saif-Kareena at the IIFAs so far. Meanwhile, Vivek Oberoi was caught in a very rare jolly mood during the audio release of Mission Istanbul where he shook a leg to the hit song from Shootout at Lokhandwala.
While all this was happening, the awards were announced and as 2007 had been an exceptional year in terms of quality cinema. Taare Zameen Par, however. was not part of all the excitement as its producer had decided that the IIFAs were too superficial to enter his film. Right on, Aamir.
And here goes the awards list….. don’t be surprised by the number of Chak Des here. For a change we decided to club the awards under the movie name rather than the other way- it was easier.

Salangai Oli
It is a gentle love story and as all romances has a tragic ending. But, the interweaving of the ambitions and struggles faced by a talented dancer with the correct elements of pathos and sentiment make this film directed by K. Vishwanath an all time favorite.
Riteish Deshmukh to go solo soon
"If you look at my career graph in last few months, I have been making a conscious effort to be seen with lesser heroes around me", he smiles, "I have been seen in four hero films and also three hero films. Off late, I am also making progress on being a part of two hero films. Soon it should be time to solo too!"
In last few months, Riteish has been seen in Cash (Ajay Devgan, Suneil Shetty, Zayed Khan) and Dhamaal (Sanjay Dutt, Arshad Warsi, Javed Jaffrey, Aashish Chaudhary) where he was surrounded by number of men. Earlier too, Malamaal Weekly and Apna Sapna Money Money were multi starrers though the latter clearly had Riteish as the key man.
Later he went on to deliver yet another success in the form of Heyy Babyy where he was next only to Akshay Kumar in spite of Fardeen Khan being the senior colleague.
"I am happy with the progress I am making", adds Riteish, "Now in Sajid Khan's Housefull, which is a two hero project, I am there with Akshay Kumar. Jaane Kahan Se Aayi Hai is another good project in the making. I play this guy from planet Earth while Ayesha Takia is the girl from Venus. The film stars the young boy Ruslaan Mumtaz (of Mera Pehla Pehla Pyaar fame) as well."
While Housefull and Jaane Kahan Se Aayi Hai are waiting to happen, Riteish already has a two hero film closer home. Come 20th June and De Taali, where he shares screen space with Aftab Shivdasani, would hit the screens.
"The film is coming at just the right time when a comedy like this should make an impact", informs Riteish, "I love the kind of gags that have been incorporated in the film."
Before year end, Riteish would be seen in Aladin And The Mystery Of The Lamp where he plays the title role of Aladin. The Sujoy Ghosh starrer features Amitabh Bachchan as Genius - The Genie along with Sanjay Dutt as a lovable villain.
