Kapaleeswarar Temple Looted

This Wednesday, 16th April,08 Chennai’s renowned temple at Mylapore witnessed another mishap. The theft was noticed by a watchman and a temple priest who came in to open the doors to the sanctum sanctorum of the main deity on Thursday around 5-30 a.m. The hundi, in the form of a three-and-a-half foot tall stainless steel circular drum, was found tied to a pillar some distance away from its original place.

It is said that the security CCTV cameras were not functioning during the night and the burglar alarm did not go off even after the hundi was repositioned. Evidence of the thief(s) is also missing, who might have sneaked out in the morning.
