Dasa is about to unroll

Oscar Films Ravichandran produced much-hyped movie of the year, the Kamal Hassan-starrer Dasavatharam’s audio release is scheduled for April 25. Chennai is geared-up for the extravaganza which will host the Hong Kong born Hollywood star “Jackie Chan”. Mr. Ravichandran made a point to mention that the audio release of a legend’s movie must take place in front of a legendary action hero. The Nehru Indoor Stadium is being face-lifted for the hosting the gala on 25th April. Its setting at Nehru Stadium would resemble the Hollywood amphitheatre set up for presenting the renowned Academy awards.

SHORT REVIEW OF MOVIE

Comprising of over two hours of computer graphics, the movie had took its own sweet time in post-production. The entire graphics is taken care by Hong Kong-based VA which did the graphics for the film "Day After Tomorrow". Every one must look out for the awesome tsunami effect on a two-acre spread artificially created and filmed at Uthandi on ECR, Chennai. About 50 Hollywood technicians had to be brought from US to train local technicians. For the visual effects, Bryan from Los Angeles had come to work with the unit.

Tamil and Telugu versions of the film is planned to be released simultaneously as for now, and other instalments in various Indian languages will follow-up. “Crazy” Mohan and late veteran scholar “Sujatha” had made the dialogues in Tamil version sound professional. Although the movie has strong story-line and star cast, its music and the artist are new to the Tamil audience. Himmesh Reshammiya, despite his busy schedule, composed five songs and spawned a remix but has not done the music score for the film.

There are several contrasting roles played by Kamal Hassan in the movie, in which he play A Brahmin, A Dwarf, A Scientist, A Fighter, A Black Man, A Tourist Guide, An Old Woman, A Robber, A Young Lady, An Emperor. Now that, the audio is about to release, only time will tell whether the efforts put in are paid off.

Eventful day at VGP resort!

VGP Resort, Chennai on Friday 18th April,08 witnessed the greatest get-together we ever had. Fun amidst feeling of oneness between the students of final year batch B 2004-08 Electronics Dept, VEC.
Glamour & BukBuk must be congratulated for organizing the union, although substandard for the amount of cash put in, within the short span of time, while the final semester exams are around the corner. Around 35 out of the entire strength of class turned out to participate and share their feelings which surrounded them for the past 3 years or more. The rest of the fellows who missed to attend the gathering are definitely going to miss an important part of their lives. I do feel them deliberately missing the get-together was better than them actually attending it and spoiling the spirit.
Friends forever :(L-R) Vij, Sai, Me

Although the trio(in the foto) missed the initial revel, we caught up with the gang before the entertainment began. Various sports were a part of the enjoyment apart from hour long photo session. It was followed by a sumptuous banquet and later on a trot around the resort. Time rolled by when we started dipping one another at the beach. We had enough energy to splash at the pool soon after, and the highlight of the day was Sai somersaulting on to the pool.

With heavy hearts everyone departed after high tea and snapping group photos. For years to come this day will be remembered by those who attended the event. It bonded the guys and gals and made us feel one.

Kapaleeswarar Temple Looted

This Wednesday, 16th April,08 Chennai’s renowned temple at Mylapore witnessed another mishap. After the distressing incident when a lightning struck the temple’s tower last month, bad omens were predicted to transpire Kapaleeswarar Temple, Mylapore, Chennai. Several oblations have been performed in order to pacify the gods and protect the city soon after.

Counting of the offerings at the temple Photo Source : THE HINDU

Now that everything is set back to normal in the temple, one more depressing event happened on Wednesday. A bulky sum of 50 grands was looted after breaking open the hundi of main sannidhi of Kapaleeswarar Temple. The night before the theft occurred, sources said that an unidentified person was found inside the premises of the temple that was not found on Thursday morning.

The theft was noticed by a watchman and a temple priest who came in to open the doors to the sanctum sanctorum of the main deity on Thursday around 5-30 a.m. The hundi, in the form of a three-and-a-half foot tall stainless steel circular drum, was found tied to a pillar some distance away from its original place.

It is said that the security CCTV cameras were not functioning during the night and the burglar alarm did not go off even after the hundi was repositioned. Evidence of the thief(s) is also missing, who might have sneaked out in the morning.

Although, much of planning is required to make away with such a considerable amount of cash from a secured temple, some underhand work from the officials might help the culprits get away with it. “சிவன் சொத்து குல நாசம் "which means “Lord Shiva’s property, once stolen destroys your lineage” is a saying in Tamil. I am sure the thieves must have known this fact, and will repent over this deplorable act.

Knight Riders rode over Bangalore RCs

The latest buzz in Indian cricket is the 1000 crore project "Indian Premier League" which kicked off at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore on 18th April 2008 for the 59 heart-stopping thriller T20 matches. Clash between the former Indian captains Saurav Ganguly and Rahul Dravid, was not like what was expected out of them.

M Chinnaswamy Stadium had been painted with Red and Yellow, the official color of Royal Challengers matched the jerseys of the team. Opening ceremony was scintillating with expert gymnasts from all across the world entertained the audience. Dazzling fireworks lit up the sky and smoke engulfed the skies. The introduction of the team captains followed by them signing the MCC's Spirit of Cricket was cheered by the enormous crowd. BCCI President, Mr. Sharad Pawar, rightly called it a ‘historic day’ for international and Indian cricket.

Kolkata Knight Riders won the match hands down after an unstoppable knock by Brendon McCullum

The match was however disappointing on the whole. The strong bowling attack forged by Zaheer Khan and Praveen Kumar failed to keep runs from accumulating that posed a great challenge to the Royal Challengers. Thought to be a well balanced team, BRC had very little experienced players, and the youngsters found it hard to hide the pressure on them.

Right from the beginning, the pitch was owned by KKR when McCullum banged the ball to the fence in the second over. From then on, there was no looking back for the team, occasionally when Saurav and Ponting fell. The numbers in the scoreboard spun for every ball and stopped at 222 at the end of the innings.

Mallya's Challengers knew their position well and must have given hopes right then. It showed, when the started their innings. The captain Rahul showed his boys, the way back to pavilion. Soon, wickets started falling frequently and the home team found them struggling to score a single. Praveen Kumar's relentless efforts to save the day went iSn vain and the whole team gave in after 15 overs.

The major problem suffered today and will be suffered by IPL is the restriction of only 4 international players to be played per match. Bangalore fell for a meagre total because of inexperienced lot, which could have been averted if there were lighter restrictions.

GT5 Prologue Review

After years of hard work, Gran Turismo's latest edition GT5 Prologue kicks off from the start(l)ing line!........ GT5 Prologue looks trendy, sexy and photorealistic.

This game has an astounding technical advancement over the competitors, both in sound speed, and in-game looks. It's brief taste of smorgasbord occurs to people because of its structure of competing in series of races, unlocking new event classes an earning credits to get better wheels. With more than 30 events to unlock, the single-player game isn't overly lengthy, but its difficulty increases as you progress to the professional level. There are various competitions from standard races & time trials to overtaking of the whole grid in a single lap.

GT5 Prologue is hands-down one of the best-looking games on the PS 3. Details of the surroundings are packed with stupendous features creating an ideal game for high-definition display. The amount of attention paid to enhance the looks of cars, amazed me! Motion blurs and aliasing not only increases the game-detailing but also the enthusiasm on the players. This is not just it. The two-player split-screen version without AI drivers just picks up the top spot in beating all the other high definition racing games and let us race head-to-head.

This game is too good to be a successful entry to the PlayStation 3 mega competition, and driving enthusiasts who have a penchant for exotic cars just cant stop playing. It keeps up the name set by its predecessors and features top-notch driving, accurately recreated vehicles and tracks, and a good learning curve that forces you to step up your game as you progress. However, the lack of vehicle damage, the relatively small number of vehicles and tracks on offer slows down its sale compared to its counterparts.

Overall, I give all A's to GT5 Prologue

Get Syndicated - Adding RSS Feed

RSS feed stands for Rich Site Summary. The name itself indicates the importance of a feed for every webpage in order to be listed in the search engines' database. Bloggers are increasingly attracted by RSS to advertise their site via Yahoo, Google to name the best ones.

When I stumbled upon Danny Sullivan's article on How to make an RSS feed which clearly explains in detail to create a feed, I was astounded by its simple implementation. All we need is to specify three factors
1. Title
2. Description
3. Link

The description is an optional part, often replaced by a customized button. Once these details are given properly, the RSS which has a brain on its own, reads whatever is given in the feed!

It goes something like this -

I will review it no matter how!
http://siminkdevelop.com

World of warcraft is the best thing that has happened to me since my childhood
http://gamezreview.com/wow111.html

Every site has a tag which could be added to the XML 1.0 after reading its specifications. It has the reason and version of RSS that are used. The final step is to use this service to generate a JavaScript code to be posted in the webpage. Those who copy the JavaScript automatically has the blog feed syndicated into theirs!

Al Gore gets honorary PhD......

The most vibrant personality who has dedicated his life solely for the "green world" ex- US Vice President Al Gore visited Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne for the Research Day 2008 celebrations where he had a honorary award waiting to be awarded by one of Switzerland's most prestigious university institutions. For publicizing the issue of climate change, EPFL is honoured Mr. Gore today.

Mr. Al Gore has a commendable life story which involves the horrifying accident his son met with and the untimely demise of his sister (who succumbed to cancer). His affection for nature and green revolution led him deliver numerous sessions of lectures to various personalities across the world. In the movie "An Inconvenient Truth" shows in detail about his proclamations and philosophies about global warming and its effects.

His constant attack on factors which disrupts nature's balance plummeted him into the presidential race. He was commended by EPFL head Patrick Aebischer on his work "Gore made global warming an issue for debate at a time when no one, in the US in particular, was discussing it". He said the institute awarded honorary doctorates not only to scientists, but also to people who had helped to ensure that the results of scientific research are applied for the good of society.

Ubisoft in India??

Gaming giant Ubisoft after flourishing in the international market for so long, creating mind- boggling games such as Ghost Recon, Resident Evil, Driver and not to forget the most sought after Prince of Persia series, buys India video game development studio Gameloft

Gameloft is well known for their splendid efforts in making high end graphic oriented games in mobile platform. This event is like the union of the great ones, and we have lot more surprises in stock. Gameloft, which is based in Pune, India, has a 120 developers and testers. Ubisoft aims to raise that headcount to 200 developers in a year's time and to 500 in the coming years, it said in a statement.

Smack Down vs. Raw 2008

Initially I felt the urge within to rush to Gypsy to get my copy of SDvR, but later on the urge subsided along with the enthu to play the game itself, just like any other Smack Down series.
The game is addictive for the most part of it, but certain subtle flaws make it look just like the old ones. One of the problems which we face everyday in PS is scene glitches (the Irish Whip glitch mainly), not fixed, which every one would feel not to be present in the latest installment. As far as the gameplay is concerned, GM mode which has an extensive story line is real fun, however 24/7 mode disappoints. The major disappointment is that, you cannot have a GM Mode and a Superstar mode at the simultaneously, since we would like to play on the GM mode one day, and the Superstar mode another day.

The game also has all the basic matches, including 'Hell in a Cell' and the rest, but there are no 'new' matches, it would have been nice if THQ put in a Lumberjack match or even an Inferno match. You will get bored of the same matches eventually. Another thing that bothers me is the graphics. Overall, it's good, but The Great Khali and Mark Henry look AWFUL. John Cena looks the same from 2007 and 2006, and Triple H's pecs weren't right, although the graphics amazed me in the Xbox 360 and the Playstation 3 version.

The game also uses new controls and I feel it is a great improvement to the other games, and it has updated rosters, including the Hardys and Cryme Tyme, and the new look of the shop is great, but other than that, it is the same game as WWE SmackDown vs Raw 2007, big disappointment to fans like me.

The final verdict goes as : You get pissed off, if you had played the previous versions of Smack Down, for there is no change in the contents . It is a thrilling for noobies who'll love it.

Graphics - Big 8/10
Sound - Good 7/10
Game play - Decent 6/10
Value - Good 7/10
